The Audio Troubleshooting Guide
How to diagnose what fails.
A system that stops working rarely announces its actual cause. A blown amplifier and a muted zone sound identical from the sofa. Two smart devices that each believe they control the volume will fight each other silently, with no error message explaining why. A fault that disappears for a week and returns on a hot afternoon is not haunted — it is thermal, and testable.
This volume teaches one repeatable method and applies it directly: describe the symptom before touching anything, restore a known reference state, follow the complete signal path, change one variable at a time, and record what actually fixed it. That method is then worked through symptom by symptom — missing or wrong sound, distortion and unexpected shutdowns, an unstable stereo image, unclear dialogue, lip-sync drift, streaming and network failures, remote controls and automation contradicting each other, firmware updates that silently reset settings, and faults that come and go.
It stops at audio — picture faults have their own volume and their own method. Nor does it select replacement equipment or redesign a room: a properly diagnosed fault sometimes ends in repair, sometimes in replacement, sometimes in accepting a limitation, and this volume exists to tell those apart with evidence. What it will not allow is a working system being replaced for a problem a loose cable, a changed setting or an overnight firmware update actually caused.
